Personal:

Married.  Stay at home mom.  My husband and I have 2 daughters and 4 sons.  And I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

With a seemingly impossible long-term goal of running a sub 3 hour marathon, the following scriptures give me hope:

In your patience possess ye your souls. Luke 21:19

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. James 1:4

But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Romans 8:25

Submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord.         Mosiah 24:15

And Ezra teaches that discipline and patience are born of disappointment.

Struggled to get out the door this morning.  I have been sick the last couple days.  No run Tuesday or Wednesday.  :(   I forced myself to run this morning, for no other reason than to get some fresh air and move around a bit.  I'm glad I got out, but still feel a bit achy and gross.  My asthma has been considerable worse.  I think I did about 7.5 miles...by myself and probably a good thing I was.  I can't imagine anyone would have enjoyed my pace or my hacking.  A nap is definitely a priority for me when my kids go down for their naps.  I'm tired of being sick.

Sorry to hear you don't feel well. I woke up with that same thing yesterday. 13 weeks wow your going to have that baby before we know it.

Sorry you aren't feeling well. I hope it end quickly and you are able to get back to your normal routine of things. You are doing so great - and I'm so impressed that at 13 weeks you are still going out and getting 7 miles in. Keep up the good work.

1/3 of the way through your pregnancy!

So when I have been pregnant quite a few of the runs I did were of the "just forced myself to get out there but the pace was horrible" variety. Its great that you are keeping up the mileage. I would say when you are sick to try to get out there anyway. At least don't let any more days go by than is necessary because it gets progressively more difficult the further along you get. You know all this already. Also, running while sick can be a good way to fight sickness by raising your body temp, just so long you don't do a hard workout.

Josse, it's not even really the pregnancy that's been an issue. That's the annoying part. I've just had a bad cold. (Although, I'm pretty tired throughout my pregnancies.)

Andee, thanks for the words of encouragement. If I could stay healthy, I'd have no problems with my running! How are you doing?

From Jamie on Fri, Feb 08, 2008 at 22:47:50

Michelle, I was thinking to myself, "1/3 of the way" just this morning! Honestly, I wish I could just forget how far along I am. I think it'd go by much faster.

The miles aren't a problem, as of now. My pace has slowed, which is a bit annoying. But a normal 8-10miler doesn't bother me now much more than it did before I was pregnant. Hills are starting to kick my butt (I'm slow), but I think it will be a number of weeks before I have to walk up them. I can't complain, really. Just wish I could hold off the colds. How are you holding in there with such little sleep and still running all those miles. I'm amazed!
