Married.  Stay at home mom.  My husband and I have 2 daughters and 4 sons.  And I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

With a seemingly impossible long-term goal of running a sub 3 hour marathon, the following scriptures give me hope:

In your patience possess ye your souls. Luke 21:19

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. James 1:4

But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Romans 8:25

Submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord.         Mosiah 24:15

And Ezra teaches that discipline and patience are born of disappointment.

Ran with Ali in Springville today.  The wind and rain were pretty awful at times, but I'm so glad that I had Ali with me to help pass the time.  Good thing we got out the door when we did.  The wind and rain in S.F. were horrid when Ali dropped me off.  Had a dog scare us half to death.  I swear that dogs sniff me out.  My poor running buddies are faced with mean dogs on a regular basis, because of me...I'm convinced.  I'm certain that we ran at least 12 miles, even though the wind and rain kept us from moving too quickly.

A heavy feeling has been accompanying my runs more and more lately.  It's common to have slow or off days, even when I'm not pregnant.  However, they occur more frequently now.  I'm glad that I have good friends that run with me anyway.  Hopefully my body will be willing to hold a decent pace throughout the winter.

Wow, were have I been? Did I miss that anouncement? Congradulations!! Some of us are just slow runners, slow to see the details ect..... I can't believe that you are doing 12 miles. How far into your pregnancies do you ususally run? That's awesome!!

I have never been pregnant so I dont know squat about pregnancies and running but I think its awesome you are running the miles that you are. I hope I can be just like you when the time comes for me (still a little ways off).

Also being pregnant and running the bad weather double wow!

Good job on your run. I'm so impressed that you have been able to keep your miles up with being pregnant - you are amazing!

Michelle, I successfully ran through my first two pregnancies (literally a shuffle toward the end of both). My pregnancies are fairly easy on me and I attribute that to my health and basically my running.

From Jamie on Sun, Jan 06, 2008 at 19:42:37

Marcie, I've run during all my pregnancies. It would be difficult to attempt the miles if I weren't already in good shape. I listen to my body and take it one day at a time.

I have become a faster runner post babies. Don't let the thought of getting slow (and fluffy!) discourage you from getting pregnant. You'll bounce back.

My babies come first in everything I do and I have never regretted that. They are worth all the effort and sacrifice made!

James & Andee, thanks for the comments. I will need more encouragement in the weeks ahead!

Jamie,

Oh the thought of slowing up is not all discouraging or will discourage me at all from getting pregnant. Its just not quite in the plan yet. But its good to know people like you that can give me good advice about what to expect when that time comes!
