Personal:

Married.  Stay at home mom.  My husband and I have 2 daughters and 4 sons.  And I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

With a seemingly impossible long-term goal of running a sub 3 hour marathon, the following scriptures give me hope:

In your patience possess ye your souls. Luke 21:19

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. James 1:4

But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Romans 8:25

Submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord.         Mosiah 24:15

And Ezra teaches that discipline and patience are born of disappointment.

L.A. Freeway today...loved it (as always).  I lead and felt strong the whole time; it's been too long since I last ran this trail.  Perhaps three months or so...I have missed it.  Ali joined me.  She pushed herself hard on the up-hill.  For no more than she's run it, she kicks trash on the hills!

Lisa Pratt (BYU) showed up for the workout and brought a former BYU cross-country friend with her (by the name of Kristie...don't know her last name).  It has been a while since I've seen Lisa at the runs.  She would have been ahead the whole time, had Kristie been a stronger hill runner.  Lisa dropped back for Kristie, about a mile from Rock Canyon.

With the up-hill done, I decided to set my pace into cruise-control and get back to the park.  I was to meet-up with Phillip and his family right after my run (Gina's in town).  Ran from the Rock Canyon parking lot back to my car in 16:?? minutes.  Should have paid more attention to the seconds on my watch.  Ali wasn't up for the speedier down-hill (she dropped back a bit and I didn't see her again until she finished at the park).

Total time: 1:17:52  Moderate effort.  No muscle soreness this week.  Haven't been sore since St. George...perhaps I ought to do something about that!

I used to run the L.A. Freeway all of the time when I lived in Provo. I know they have changed that trail since I ran on it last, around the part where the three sisters and Grand Father hills were, and I hear they tore out the tree of life too.

I know Lisa too, her name used to be Antonelli. She is one tough chicka, or at least she used to be.

Nice run on the Freeway, I always figured it was about 9.5-10 miles from Center Street and 900 East and back to that same park. Although, everyone always claimed that it was more like 12 miles. Only if you count effort though right!

James, it's different toward the start of the trail as well(where you jump up on the bench).

Not sure on the exact number of miles...there is something to be said for being generous (considering the up-hill effort).

Good to hear from someone who knows the trail well; did you run with the Sojourners a lot when you lived in Provo?

Sounds like a great run Jamie. Maybe sometime I'll be able to join.
